Part-Time Job Description Summary

The Worship Director is responsible for planning, developing, and executing all aspects of Anchor’s Worship Team, ensuring cohesive and impactful worship experiences. This includes scheduling, coordinating with FECDB, collaborating on worship elements, and partnering with the Lead Pastor to shape the church’s worship culture. The role involves training and mentoring worship leaders, overseeing auditions and onboarding, and fostering personal and spiritual growth within the team. Additionally, the Worship Director plans special services and events, maintains the song pool, partners with the Youth Pastor to nurture future worshippers, and engages with external leaders to exchange insights. Regular meetings and collaboration with staff ensure alignment with the church’s mission and values. This is a part-time (8-10 hours per week) position at $25.75/hr.

Skills and Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of musical experience, including 5 years in worship

  • Strong knowledge of music theory

  • Previous experience with Planning Center preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

  • Highly organized with effective time management skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks proactively

  • Works well collaboratively and within a team environment

  • Creative, innovative, and adaptable

  • Leadership experience managing teams of 15+ people

  • Constant desire to learn and develop

  • Plan, develop, and execute all aspects of Anchor’s Worship Team, ensuring each week’s team is set up for success

  • Coordinate schedules and collaborate with FECDB for facility reservations

  • Work closely with the Productions Team Leader to ensure cohesion across worship elements, including equipment, sound, and lyrics

  • Partner with the Lead Pastor to shape the church’s worship culture, reinforce camaraderie within the team, and build a robust Theology of Worship for both the team and congregation

  • Oversee the audition and onboarding process, establish Mentor Buddies with quarterly goal check-ins, and foster personal and spiritual growth for new members

  • Train worship leaders to independently lead Sunday services and rehearsals, and provide opportunities for team members to develop leadership skills

  • Assist in planning and executing church services and events, including Christmas, Easter, baptisms, retreats, and other special occasions

  • Maintain and develop the church’s song pool, build quarterly rotations, and ensure the Planning Center’s chord chart database is accurate and up-to-date

  • Partner with the Youth Pastor to nurture future worshippers through lessons, workshops, and initiatives like Jesus Jams

  • Engage with external worship and church leaders to learn and exchange insights

  • Host regular meetings (twice monthly and 3-4 annually) and an Annual Team Meeting to align on goals, ensure alignment with team values, and strengthen community within the group

  • Collaborate with staff (2-3 meetings monthly) to discuss, plan, and execute initiatives that align with the church’s mission statement, ensuring they serve the church body and leadership effectively

  • Ad hoc duties as assigned

Physical Demands

  • Ability and willingness to drive a personal vehicle to transport ministry items to and from the Sunday worship location and other event locations as needed

  • Ability to lift large/heavy objects up to 50lbs

  • Push and pull large bins up to 100lbs

Spiritual Expectations

1. Committed member of Anchor Community Church: This includes regular financial giving, regular participation in a community group, and consistent attendance in Sunday worship (as reasonably feasible in conjunction with job responsibilities).

2. Community Groups (Acts 20:20): Community Groups are at the heart of ACC. Real-life change happens in the context of relationships – small groups. You are expected to participate in a community group on a regular basis to help foster community and accountability for your own and others’ spiritual growth. Being in community also contributes to better relationships with the volunteers on your team.

3. Attending Sunday Worship Service (Hebrews 10:25, 2 Timothy 2:15, Luke 10:38-42): Your Spiritual Growth is the number one priority. What you do as part of the ACC staff team should be fueled by your ongoing spiritual development. Work can never take a backseat to worship. Worship and community group participation are non-negotiable for all ACC staff members and ministry team leaders.
